History of HSBC TreeTop Walk

The HSBC TreeTop Walk at the Central Catchment Nature Reserve is one of the many initiatives supported by Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) in Singapore. A natural refuge to a rich diversity of flora and fauna, the Central Catchment Nature Reserve is also home to our precious source of drinking water.

Standing 25m above the ground, the HSBC TreeTop Walk provides the spectacular opportunity for all to get closer to our natural heritage. The free-standing suspension bridge connects the two highest points – Bukit Peirce and Bukit Kalang in MacRitchie. The total length of the walkway is about 250m.

The construction of this bridge started in August 2002 and took about 2 years to complete. The four phases of construction were piling and slope stabilisation, building of the towers, launching of the suspension cables and construction of the decking. The HSBC TreeTop Walk was officially launched by the Minister of State for Finance and Transport, Mrs. Lim Hwee Hua, on 5th November 2004.
