The Battle Box is located some 9 metres underground, in one of the bunkers in Fort Canning Park. It was the largest underground military operations complex in Singapore and was part of the Malaya Command Headquarters during World War II. They bring visitors back to the morning of 15th February 1942, when the surrender decision was made by British Officers and Singapore fell to the Japanese.

Construction of this Underground Far East Command Centre began in 1936. It was to be used in the event of war as the nerve centre for British Military operations in South East Asia.

The Centre was a maze-like complex of 26 rooms and corridors. This complex is bomb-proof and also capable of recycling its own air supply. It was here during the Second World War, on the morning of 15 February 1942 that Lt.-General Percival, General Officer Commanding, Malaya Command, made the crucial decision to surrender to the Japanese.

After the war, the Battle Box was sealed off and its exact location forgotten. It was rediscovered in 1988, and converted into a tourist attraction. The underground bunker has been refurbished with an air-conditioning system installed, though with the historical value still greatly preserved.

Through the use of specially arranged audio and video effects, high quality animatronics and specially crafted figurines, The Battle Box bring you back to the morning of 15 February 1942.

The Battle Box Tour will begin after you complete all "recruitment procedures" at the Ticketing Office. An Orderly will take you into The Battle Box, you will walk through the complex and experience the recreated events in its various rooms.
