The uniquely Singapore experience of National Service (NS) will be chronicled in the Army Museum of Singapore (ARMS). The museum will preserve the heritage of the Singapore Army and honour the contributions of Singapore's soldiers and their experiences.

The ARMS, designed as a story-centric museum, chronicles our Army's development from the early years to the present day, in six galleries. Among the artefacts are collections of medals, personal mementos from ex-NS men and a mock-up of a 1970s trainee bunk. Visitors can also enjoy a 30-minute interactive video, 'A Day in the Life', depicting a modern army in battle.

The permanent Exhibitions showcases Orientation Gallery, Birth of Our Army, Making of a Soldier, From 1st Generation to 2nd Generation, Training to be ready, Army Operations, Creating our Future, and Our People.

There is an Adventure Park which is modelled after the Standard Obstacle Course in the Army, which are scaled down for children under 14 years of age.

Marked as a key initiative to celebrate the 40th anniversary of NS in 2007. Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean officiated the groundbreaking ceremony of the museum on 21 June 2006. The Army Museum of Singapore, $8.8 million three-storey museum, official opening ceremony was on the 27th September 2007 - Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Minister for Defence, Mr Teo Chee Hean, Chief of Defence Force, LG Desmond Kuek, Chief of Army, MG Neo Kian Hong and CE DSTA, Mr Richard Lim, each cut a ribbon to officially open the museum and a new chapter in the history of the Army.

ARMS was constructed with zero accidents in only 15 months despite the rain, haze and sand embargo.

The name "Army Museum of Singapore" was decided through a naming competition opened to all soldiers.

Group/Units Tour Booking is available. Booking should be made at least 2 weeks in advance. They do not open to group bookings on weekends due to the heavy visitorship. Visit their website for the Musuem Booking Calendar.
